Tenant balance
The “Tenant balance” page in the “Tenants” section shows the detail of the payments a tenant has made and where their account currently stands.
The tenant balance takes the following into account:
- Prepaid rents (the amount set on the tenancy).
- Recorded payments (in the “Finance” section).
- Service charge reconciliations that are still unpaid.
- Property tax and waste collection tax refunds that are still unpaid.
- Expenses of the type “Remboursement : Trop-perçu locataire” (refund of a tenant overpayment).
- Expenses of the type “Credit Note”.
- Income of the type “Paiement du locataire : Règlement de dette locative” (tenant payment towards rent arrears).
- Income of the type “Paiement du locataire : Charges locatives” (tenant payment towards service charges).
Balance carry-over
The tenant balance can be applied to payments.
When you record a payment, you can carry over all or part of the tenant balance.
The carry-over options only appear when the tenant’s account shows a balance, positive or negative.
- If you carry over a negative balance, the amount is added to the rent.
- If you carry over a positive balance, the amount is deducted from the rent.
