Tenant’s account
The landlord can invite their tenant to join Rentila and give them access to their data. The tenant can then accept the invitation and create their profile.
Once the tenant has signed in, they are linked to the landlord and get their own member area. These are the sections available in the tenant account:
- Landlords: to find information about the landlord.
- Tenancies: to see the details of their current tenancies.
- Receipts: to download their rent receipts.
- Documents: to share documents between the tenant and the landlord.
- Maintenance: to create or request a maintenance job.
- Tasks: to create or complete a task.
- Messages: to send and receive messages.
- Applications: to follow their pending applications for a tenancy.
The tenant account is a practical tool for landlords: it saves you time and makes your management more efficient.
Once the tenant has signed in to Rentila, the account belongs to them.
- You cannot disconnect a tenant.
- You cannot refuse them access.
- You cannot delete their account.
Their email address, which is their login, can however be changed: by the tenant from their own account, or by you once you unlock the “Email” field on their record. See Create, edit or delete a tenant.
Why give access to the tenant account?
Under the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), in force since 25 May 2018, it is important to tell users — here, your tenants — how their data is used. They must generally consent to their data being processed, be able to see it, and be able to object to its use.
If the tenant asks for access, we are legally obliged to give them access to the platform.
The landlord also has a legal obligation to provide certain records and supporting documents to their tenant, even after the tenant has left.
