Create, edit, invite or delete a tenant candidate
Create a tenant candidate
To invite a tenant candidate to apply for a listing, follow these simple steps: go to the “Candidates” section, then click “New candidate”.
Invited candidates are listed with the status Invited.
For each tenant candidate, you can enter the following information:
- The property the candidate is applying for,
- The name of the candidate,
- The email address (used to invite them as a tenant candidate),
- The phone number,
- The home address,
- The candidate’s employment status,
- The guarantor’s details,
- A personalised invitation message.
Once invited, the candidate receives an invitation email with a direct link to the property record.
The candidate can then create an account and apply using the application form. The form asks for:
- The candidate’s name,
- Their home address,
- Their employment status,
- Their income,
- Their guarantor’s details,
- The supporting documents required.
Once the candidate has completed the form, their profile appears in your “Candidates” section with the status Pending.
You can also use the digital flyer for your property, put it in an online listing or send it straight to prospective tenant candidates (by email, text message or any other means), without inviting them at all. Note that the record has to be set to Public for anyone else to see it.
Edit a tenant candidate
To edit an existing tenant candidate, go to the “Candidates” section, click the “Edit” action to the right of the candidate concerned, make your changes, then click “Save”.
Changing a tenant candidate’s email address
You cannot change the email address of a tenant candidate who is already logged in, that is, one who has accepted your invitation. Once their account is confirmed, their email address becomes their unique login. Only the candidate can change it from their own account, or you can ask Rentila support to do it.
Delete a tenant candidate
To delete a tenant candidate, go to the “Candidates” section, then click the “Delete” action to the right of the candidate concerned.
Why can only the candidate submit an application?
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which came into force on 25 May 2018, users — here, tenant candidates — have to be told how their data is used. As a rule they must consent to their data being processed, have access to it, and be able to object to it.
The tenant candidate chooses to apply for a listing and submits their own supporting documents.
We do not let landlords fill in a tenant’s application on their behalf.
