Create, edit or delete a loan
To add a loan, you have two options:
- Go to the “Finance” section, click “Loans / Mortgages” and then the “Import a loan” button, to import a repayment schedule;
- Go to the “Finance” section, then create a new recurring expense of the “Loan / Mortgage” type (property, works or other).
Create a loan with a recurring “Loan / Mortgage” expense
If you choose to create a recurring expense of the “Loan / Mortgage” type, you can use the automatic schedule calculation. To do this, you will need to fill in the following information:
- The start date and end date,
- The total amount,
- The interest rate,
- The insurance rate.
A button lets you preview the schedule before confirming the expense.
If the schedule does not match your expectations, the only solution is to import a schedule from the “Loans / Mortgages” section.
Import a loan from the “Loans / Mortgages” section
To import a loan, you can upload a file containing your repayment schedule in Excel or Open Office format from the “Loans / Mortgages” page, following our templates.
You can use this file to calculate your loan schedule. Once the calculation is done, export the import template (available in the first sheet, named “Import template”).
Note
You can copy and paste the data from the second sheet of the Excel calculator file into the import template. To do this, please use the paste special function. Paste only the numeric values, excluding formulas and macros.
Edit or stop the loan
Loan created as a recurring expense
To change the monthly instalment of a loan, locate and edit the last generated payment. The change will be applied to all future instalments. Payments already generated must be edited manually, one by one, if necessary.
To end a loan, locate and edit the last generated payment, then click the actions on the right and, finally, “Stop”. This action is only available for the last generated instalment.
Loan imported via the “Loans / Mortgages” section
To change an imported loan, you must first delete it, then import an updated schedule. You cannot edit individual instalments.
Imported loans can be deleted and stopped from the “Loans / Mortgages” section. Filter the loans concerned, then use the actions at the bottom of the page.
Delete the loan
You can delete imported loans from the “Loans / Mortgages” section (filter by the loan concerned, then use the actions at the bottom) or from the “Finance” section.
Loans created from the “Finance” section must be deleted from that same section.
Use the filters to show only the loan, select all the rows, then delete them with the “Delete” action at the bottom of the table.
To delete a loan imported from the “Loans / Mortgages” section, filter to show only that loan; at the very bottom of the table you will find the “Delete” button.
Loan renegotiation
To record a loan renegotiation, you need to stop the existing loan and create a new one.
We recommend importing the schedules using the templates provided on the “Loans / Mortgages” page.
For the old loan, you can export it, clean the export file by removing the unnecessary instalments, save the file, then re-import it.
Before re-importing the modified file, make sure you delete the old loan in Rentila.
Insurance and interest deducted in the balance sheet
The insurance and loan interest amounts are automatically deducted in the “Balance sheet” and the tax return help.
