# Create a custom document template (tenancy agreement, guarantor agreement…)

To create a document template (tenancy agreement, guarantor agreement and so on), follow these simple steps: go to the “My documents” section, click “My templates”, then the “New Templates” button.

When you create a custom template, it replaces the Rentila template of the same type.

Rentila supplies its own document templates by default. You find them wherever the document is produced: the tenancy agreement is downloaded from the “Tenancies” section, and the other templates from the section that matches what they are for.

As soon as a custom template is enabled for a given property and document type, yours is used instead — but only for the properties you selected. The other properties keep using the Rentila template. If you disable your template, Rentila goes back to the default one automatically.

For each property, you can only create one template per document type.

For each template, you can enter the following information:

- The **type** (tenancy agreement, guarantor agreement and so on).
- The **template name**.
- The **properties concerned** (you have to create the properties first).
- The **content**.
- The **status** of the template (Active/Disabled).

When you customise a template, you can change the following:

- The **content**, including the text of the template.
- The **text format** (font, style and so on).
- The **pre-filled tags**.

### Pre-filled tags

You can use the pre-filled <span class="label label-info"><i class="far fa-arrows-alt m-r-5"></i> Tags</span> listed on the right. Each tag holds a specific piece of information from your account, such as the property address or the name of the landlord or the tenant. Drag a tag and drop it into the text of the template where you want it.

<div class="alert">
<p><span class="lead">Important!</span></p>
<p>Do not delete the dynamic tags and do not type fixed text in their place. If you do, the software cannot replace them with your data.</p>
</div>

<div class="alert alert-info">
<p><span class="lead">Good to know!</span></p>
<p>For a shared tenancy with several tenants, use the <span class="label label-info"><i class="far fa-arrows-alt m-r-5"></i> Block Start</span> and <span class="label label-info"><i class="far fa-arrows-alt m-r-5"></i> Block End</span> tags from the “Tenant” tab to frame the information about each tenant. The template then loops and prints the details of every tenant in turn.</p>
<p>The same applies to guarantors and to generating guarantor agreements. The <span class="label label-info"><i class="far fa-arrows-alt m-r-5"></i> Block Start</span> and <span class="label label-info"><i class="far fa-arrows-alt m-r-5"></i> Block End</span> tags from the “Tenant guarantor” tab must frame the information about each guarantor. The template then loops and prints the details of every guarantor in turn.</p>
